If you want to keep your home life happy. • Rule 6 is: Be courteous.

"No woman can ever understand why a man doesn't put forth the
same effort to make his home a go
ing concern as he does to make
his business or profession a success.
"But, although to have a contented wife and a peaceful and happy
home means more to a man than to make a million dollars, not one
man in a hundred ever gives any real serious thought or makes any
honest effort to make his marriage a success. He leaves the most
important thing in his life to chance, and he wins out or loses,
according to whether fortune is with him or not. Women can never
understand why their husbands refuse to handle them diplomatically,
when it would be money in their pockets to use the velvet glove
instead of the strong-arm method.
"Every man knows that he can jolly his wife into doing anything, and
doing without anything. He knows that if he hands her a few cheap
compliments about what a wonder
ful manager she is, and how she
helps him, she will squeeze every nickel. Every man knows that if he
tells his wife how beautiful and lovely she looks in her last year's
dress, she wouldn't trade it for the latest Paris importation. Every
man knows that he can kiss his wife's eyes shut until she will be
blind as a bat, and that he has only to give her a warm smack on the
lips to make her dumb as an oyster.
"And every wife knows that her husband knows these things about
her, because she has furnished hi
m with a complete diagram about
how to work her. And she never knows whether to be mad at him or
disgusted with him, because he would rather fight with her and pay
for it in having to eat bad meals, and have his money wasted, and
buy her new frocks and limousines
and pearls, than to take the
trouble to flatter her a little and treat her the way she is begging to
be treated." How to win friends and influence people

7 STEPS TO ACTION!!

"Everyone enjoys doing the kind of work for which he is best suited. An artist loves
to work with paints, a craftsman with his hands, a writer loves to write. Those
with less definite talents have their preferences for certain fields of business and
industry. If America does anything well, it offers a full range of occupations, tilling the soil,
manufacturing, marketing, and the professions.

CHOOSE TO BE INSPIRED AND EARN MONEY AT THE SAME TIME!

First
. Decide EXACTLY what kind of a job you want. If the job doesn’t already
exist, perhaps you can create it.
Second
. Choose the company, or individual for whom you wish to work.
Third
. Study your prospective employer, as to policies, personnel, and chances
of advancement.
Fourth
. By analysis of yourself, your talents and capabilities, figure WHAT YOU
CAN OFFER, and plan ways and means of giving advantages, services,
developments, ideas that you believe you can successfully deliver.
Fifth
. Forget about “a job.” Forget whether or not there is an opening. Forget the
usual routine of “have you got a job for me?” Concentrate on what you can give.
Sixth
. Once you have your plan in mind, arrange with an experienced writer to
put it on paper in neat form, and in full detail.
Seventh
. Present it to the proper person with authority and he will do the rest.
Every company is looking for men who can give something of value, whether it be
ideas, services, or “con-nections.” Every company has room for the man who has
a definite plan of action which is to the advantage of that company.
This line of procedure may take a few days or weeks of extra time,
but the difference in income, in advancement, and in gaining recognition
will save years of hard work at small pay. It has many advantages,
the main one being that it will often save from one to five years of time
in reaching a chosen goal"  Napoleon Hill - Think and Grow Rich

DESIRE TO CHANGE THE WORLD

"If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never see them in your
bank balance. Never, in the history of America has there been so great an opportunity
for practical dreamers as now exists. The six year economic collapse has reduced all men,
substantially, to the same level. A new race is about to be run.
The stakes represent huge fortunes which will be accumulated within the next ten
years. The rules of the race have changed, because we now live in a CHANGED
WORLD that definitely favors the masses, those who had but little or no opportunity to
win under the conditions existing during the depression, when fear paralyzed growth and
development.
We who are in this race for riches, should be encouraged to know that this changed
world in which we live is demanding new ideas, new ways of doing things, new
leaders, new inventions, new methods of teaching, new methods of marketing,
new books, new literature, new features for the radio, new ideas for moving pictures.
Back of all this demand for new and better things, there is one quality which one
must possess to win, and that is DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE, the knowledge
of what one wants, and a burning DESIRE to possess it.
The business depression marked the death of one age, and the birth of another.
This changed world requires practical dreamers who can, and will put their
dreams into action. The practical dreamers have always been, and always will be
the pattern-makers of civilization"  Napoleon Hill

ASSUME A VIRTUE, IF YOU HAVE IT NOT

"If you and I want to stir up a resentment tomorrow that may rankle
across the decades and endure until death, just let us indulge in a
little stinging criticism-no matter how certain we are that it is
justified.
When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with
creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion,
creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity"

"If you want to improve a person in a certain spect, act as
though that particular trait were already one of his or her
outstanding characteristics. Shakespeare said "Assume a virtue, if
you have it not." And it might be well to assume and state openly
that other people have the virtue you want them to develop. Give
them a fine reputation to live up to, and they will make prodigious efforts rather than see you disillusioned."

CHANGE, REGULATE, IMPROVE!!!

Do you know someone you would like to change and regulate and
improve? Good! That is fine. I am all in favor of it, But why not begin
on yourself? From a purely selfish standpoint, that is a lot more
profitable than trying to improve others - yes, and a lot less
dangerous. "Don't complain about the snow on your neighbor's roof,"
said Confucius, "when your own doorstep is unclean."

If you and I want to stir up a resentment tomorrow that may rankle
across the decades and endure until death, just let us indulge in a
little stinging criticism-no matter how certain we are that it is justified.
When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with
creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion,
creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity.
Bitter criticism caused the sensitive Thomas Hardy, one of the finest
novelists ever to enrich English literature, to give up forever the
writing of fiction. Criticism drove Thomas Chatterton, the English
poet, to suicide.
Benjamin Franklin, tactless in his youth, became so diplomatic, so
adroit at handling people, that he was made American Ambassador
to France. The secret of his success? "I will speak ill of no man," he
said, " . . and speak all the good I know of everybody."
Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain - and most fools do.
But it takes character and self-control to be under-standing and
forgiving.  "How to Win Friends and Influence People"

SEVEN LIFE LESSONS

Seven Life Lessons I Learned from an Evergreen

1. The evergreen tree lives up to its name every day of its life, staying true to its colors, even when the world is grey.

2. It shares its peace and beauty with all who come near it, no matter what they look like or what they believe.

3. It sways and dances, whispering strength to all its neighbors and its fuzzy little tenants, when the harsh Santa Ana winds come whipping up the face of the mountain.

 4. It makes a safe, warm haven for those it harbors in its care, giving them shelter and comfort from the cold.

5. It bows gracefully when the heavy snows come down.

6. It stays firmly rooted to the ground through it all.

7. And last but not least, it grows just a little bit every day,
as it strives to reach toward Heaven…
